I love snow days SO MUCH. I love having my kids home from school, despite all the messes and arguments. This morning at 4:33 a.m. I got the text from the district that school was closed, and then I looked at the weather and saw that we had gotten 5 inches of snow, and lo, there was much rejoicing.
Last weekend I went to an estate sale and bought a snow blower for $14 dollars. It was the best $14 I've ever spent. It took me 10 minutes to plow the driveway and the sidewalk! I would like to find the person who invented the snow blower and give them a big wet kiss. The last time I was this happy about something I bought, it was the $3 snowcone machine I found at a garage sale last summer. I was certain it would sit in the cupboard, next to the crepe maker, gathering dust, but the kids use it all the time. I love thrifty purchases!
And speaking of thrift, I have been spending way too much time on craigslist looking for furniture for the new house. I haven't bought a thing yet, I'm just scouring all the furniture ads, because we won't know how much money we have for furniture until all the other house-associated costs have been paid. I've looked at so many furniture ads, I'll sure know a great deal when I see one. I'm getting pretty cocky about price too. What? You want to sell your italian leather livingroom set, with the sofa, loveseat, and two arm chairs plus the matching hand-carved myrtlewood tables for $500?! Ha! In your dreams, buddy. I won't pay a nickle more than $150. Hmm, I wonder why no one is replying to my inquiries?
We close on Monday, and I cannot wait to get out of our formerly perfectly-satisfactory house, which somehow, overnight, turned into a turd. It's an odd phenomenon of moving (especially moving in the middle of winter) fueled by too much stuff, too many carbs, and too few showers. Really, there's nothing like moving to turn restless dissatisfaction into a fine art.
Ah, I was there last year (we moved in a very wet April). It amazed me how I went from loving my house to not being able to get out of there. It's astonishing really.

Oh no, don't make ME want to move, with your love-moving talk!
